The Eco club organized Backyard birding sessions for Eco club and Science club students on 5th December in the conference room and on 12th December in class 10 A, led by Ms.Surabhi Deshpande, a Senior Education Officer at World Wide Fund (WWF) and a passionate environmental educator. Through an interactive PowerPoint presentation, she guided students on observing birds in natural settings such as parks and gardens, the importance of wearing camouflage clothing, and techniques to listen carefully to bird calls. She explained bird classification based on food habits, shared audiovisuals of bird calls, movements, nests and habitats, and introduced ornithologists as scientists who study birds. The session included quizzes that made it highly engaging, and she also highlighted conservation concerns, particularly the decline of vultures due to the harmful effects of the veterinary drug diclofenac.
